Dear friends of the Mircea Maria Gerard Foundation
Alongside the conservators, Emanuela Pieretti, Paola Rosa and Francesca Colombi, we are so pleased to invite you to Santissima Annunziata, Piazza della Santissima Annunziata, 50122 Firenze on Saturday 23 October, 2021 at 12.30 for the unveiling of the Foundation’s latest art conservation and restoration project. Carita by Giambologna (1578).
A 3 or 4 month conservation of a central piece of one of the Florentine communities’ most cherished places of worship to this day, turned into a fascinating 7 month research and conservation project.
But the scaffolding is now down and Carita is restored to all her beauty.

Let us know by email info@mirceamariagerardfoundation.com if you can join us from 12.30 (which is private and the Church is closed to the public) until 13.45.
Dear Padre Emanuele of the S.S. Annunziata, who has supported us throughout, will provide a private benediction.
We will enjoy a brief presentation of the work, music from our friends at the Fondazione Mascarade Opera, and some drinks and food afterwards in the lovely cloister of the SS Annunziata.
The conservation and restoration of Carita has been a labour of love for Emanuela, Paola, and Francesca; the three wonderful women who saw through the conservation of Giambologna’s beautiful expression of care for others.
Due to the COVID restrictions and local Italian regulations, guests will be required to have their “green pass” vaccination verification scanned for entry.

I do hope that you can join us for this celebration of the power of art to inspire and encourage us all.
I know that Mircea would have been as happy as I, to see you on the 23rd October, 2021.
All the best
Luke.
